SmartWings motors and controls, including remotes and hubs, have a 3-year limited warranty from the date your order ships. Defects in the shade, fabric and hardware must be reported within 30 days of delivery. We repair or replace defective items free of charge. See our Refund, Return & Warranty Policy for what is not covered.

Every shade is made to order after payment. Most custom orders arrive about 3 to 4 weeks after payment. Roller and zebra shades usually take 9–17 business days, while cellular, Roman, woven wood, outdoor shades and drapery take 15–21 business days. We currently ship within the United States, and you'll get a tracking number by email. Details are in our Shipping Policy.

Custom-made shades are final sale, so they can't be returned for a change of mind or a measuring error. Changes and cancellation are free within 24 hours of placing your order; after that it’s in production and final. If something arrives damaged, report it within 5 days of delivery. For a production error or defect, contact us within 30 days of delivery and we'll repair or replace it. Unopened fabric samples, remotes, hubs and other non-custom accessories can be returned within 30 days of the ship date. See the full policy.

A full charge typically lasts about 4–6 months with normal daily use. Charging takes about 5–6 hours with a USB-C cable, and you can charge the shade while it's installed. You can also add a solar panel. Hardwired and PoE motors never need charging.

Not for basic control. A standard motor works with a remote or wall switch. For app and voice control: Matter over Thread motors need a Thread border router (for example a HomePod mini or Apple TV 4K); Zigbee and Alexa motors need a Zigbee hub, which some Echo models have built in; Z-Wave motors need a Z-Wave hub. You can also add a Smart Link hub to a standard motor.

Yes. Our shades are designed for easy DIY installation. You fix the brackets to the window frame or wall, then clip the shade in. If you plan to use smart features, it's easiest to pair the motor before you mount the shade, especially on high windows.

Our How to Measure guide covers inside and outside mounts with simple diagrams. Measure to the nearest 1/8 inch with a steel tape. Because each shade is made to the size you enter, please double-check your measurements. Still unsure? Email us before you order.
